In real film trailers, titles are a crucial component. They provide information of the production company and distribution company of the film as well as the actors featured. Titles also draw in the audiences attention and make them want to carry on watching the trailer and of course the film itself. Real film trailers always have a specific order to ensure that all aspects are covered as well as provide a specific order to maximise the audience's attention.
The order of the titles in a real film trailer are as follows - (however this does vary slightly from trailer to trailer)
- Rating warning
- Distribution company
- Production company
- From the producers of ____ and ____
- Words and phrases that link with the film
- Film title
- Social media links
- Coming soon

Below is an example of the titles in a real horror film - Insidious 4
WE HAVE ANALYSED SOME TITLES FROM REAL FILMS TO GAIN INSPIRATION FOR OURS
SMiley
This first title here immediately sends a direct message to the audience saying "fear is only the beginning" perhaps indicating that fear might be the starting fear factor and that this film may be scarier than anybody originally thought. Also, the word 'fear' is highlighted as the colour white, literally making it stand out from the dark background and next to the rest of the red text, perhaps indicating all of the blood that 'Smiley' may spill during the film. However this contradicts the stereotype for the colour white, which normally tends to represent purity and nothing bad.

This title as a whole cleverly brings in the word 'smile' linking it to the main character 'Smiley'. This clearly shows that he has a very large appearance within this film creating a huge impact on all the other characters in this film as well as the audience. Again the word 'evil' is in bold, a typical easy to read font and the colour white. However the colour white typically represents purity and cleanliness, although from the trailer we know that there will be no purity in this film, only killing and torturing with a lot of blood, hence the rest of the text being in red. All 3 colours within this title contrast and stand out from each other.

Don't knock twice
All of these titles contain a black background with one very bold and simple title. All of these titles above makes it so much easier for the audience to read what it says on the screen in the short amount of time it's up. They've used a combination of the colour red and orange which is stereotypical for blood, rage and gore which is what can happen during this film.
This may give off a sinister atmosphere that could perhaps put the audience into suspense and leave them on edge until something drastic or eerie happens in the film.

The gracefield incident
These are are just a few examples from this trailer where titles can have a large impact on the audience. The mixture of white and grey text along with the plain back background makes the text really stand out and can give a bold impact. For the audience, the colours may seem dull, dark and boring. This could perhaps represent the killer monster within this trailer indicating that it's not afraid to kill and that a key characteristic of his, is that he doesn't care who and why he kills. A 'cold killer' for example.
These titles also give you a brief explanation of one of the characters and what he does within the film and how his character may be portrayed pairing alongside other key characters shown within this trailer.
