When we were coming up with the initial idea for our horror trailer we wanted to produce something different to a lot of the trailers in the current media. However, it was important to us to take some sort of inspiration from other trailers in order to see what a professional trailer looks like as well as ensuring we were not intending on making a trailer similar to those already existing. Below are a variety of trailers we took inspiration from when coming up with ideas for our own horror trailer.
JIGSAW.
SYNOPSIS:
'After a series of murders bearing all the markings of the Jigsaw killer, law enforcement officials find themselves chasing the ghost of a man who has been dead for over a decade, and they become embroiled in a new game that's only just begun. Is John Kramer back from the dead to remind the world to be grateful for the gift of life? Or is this a trap set by a killer with designs of his own?'.
INSPIRATION:
Whilst we want out plot to be very different from that of 'Jigsaw', there are multiple shots throughout the trailer which link to our ideas of surgery. A shows above there is a shot of someone wearing surgical gloves holding a needle as well as a shot of what looks to be pieces of skin. These gory shots are shots similar to those we want to include in our trailer. We also like the theme of torture that runs throughout the trailer, and not just the generic killing of victims but the gruesome torment of victims. Jigsaw also has the sub-genre of slasher which is to out sub-genre so we can take a lot of inspiration in that aspect. Finally, towards the end of the trailer a series of choppy, montage style shots are displayed in a faced paced way, this is a classic horror trailer convention which we want to mirror much like Jigsaw do in this trailer.

orphan.
SYNOPSIS:
Devastated by the loss of their unborn baby, Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard) decide to adopt a child. At the orphanage, both feel drawn to a little girl (Isabelle Fuhrman) named Esther, and soon the couple take their new daughter home. But when a dangerous series of events unfolds, Kate begins to suspect that there is something evil lurking behind the child's angelic exterior.
INSPIRATION:
Much like with Jigsaw, we didn't want to use the same plot but instead we wanted to take different snippets that we like. For example, we wanted to use the idea of using a child in our trailer as it gives a creepy atmosphere and children are normally seen as sweet and innocent so by using a child in a evil manner we are contradicting stereotypes. There is also a shot in the trailer of children's drawings being burned, this destructive behaviour is something we wanted to use in our trailer. Furthermore, the trailer orphan finishes with a fast paced montage much like a lot of horror trailers so we took this as inspiration also.

goodnight mommy.
SYNOPSIS:
Twin boys who do everything together, from collecting beetles to feeding stray cats, welcome their mother home after her reconstructive surgery. But with her face wrapped in bandages, and her demeanor distant, they grow suspicious of her identity.
INSPIRATION:
Although the plot to 'Goodnight Mommy' is very different to the plot we have planned the trailer has inspired us in many ways. Firstly, the villain in this trailer is female, a unusual convention we want to establish in our trailer as it contradicts stereotypes as men are usually the killers in horror. Also, the victims in this trailer are boys, this is another aspect we want to use in our trailer as it is different to many horrors on the market. We also like the surgical aspect to this trailer, with images of surgery as well as bandages, we want to create moving image similar to this in our trailer. The trailer is also very unique and unlike many other horror trailer I have seen, we want to capture this and make our horror very different from others to create a USP.
