real life shooting schedule
The schedule will need to be done before we film a few months in advance, as it is important to organise and determine many factors before filming. Areas of the shooting schedule may change slightly on the day due to certain factors. Everyone within our team will be issued a shooting schedule so that we are fully aware of what we are doing, and areas such as acting, wardrobe, make up can be sorted and prepared for. Schedules are vital when creating any type of film as they make sure that everything is running on time, if the schedule is carelessly done then when we come to shooting on the day we may run over and scenes will be incomplete. The most common rule in film industries is to add 10% on top of whatever time we originally think we will need, in order to give us extra time if needed.
what should a shooting schedule include?
- Actors being used on the day
- props needed in the scene
- set - location
- wardrobe and costumes
- make up
- special effects
- equipment
- vehicles
- animals
After this a breakdown sheet must be produced, there must be a breakdown sheet for every scene filmed
What do you include in your breakdown sheet?
- Script Page
- Scene Number
- The page count
- The Location or setting
- The synopsis of each of the scenes
- Time of day ( Day or Night)
- Interior or exterior
- The script day
There are a variety of examples above of shooting schedules that each have different levels of difficulty, we will take the main parts of each one when creating our own to make the best possible schedule for us. Therefore areas such as dates/ time of day, scene, shot, location, synopsis, cast, crew, equipment, props costume and makeup, lighting, sound and notes will be included. Below is a blank layout of our final shooting schedule.
our shooting schedule
Our shooting helped us keep on track and get the shots we need. Areas such as the description of the shot helped us to clarify what we were filming and where, cast, crew and props/make-up were also vital for us to see so that we could plan in advance on what scenes to film, if certain people were not available. Overall this helped us with all aspects of filming, without it we would not know where to start. Other parts of the shooting schedule were also important such as time of day as we need to all clarify what days we were going to stay late to film, if we needed it to be dark.
