casting decisions and why
The doctor
The Doctor is the killer in our trailer, this character will be a female lead played by Emma. As a group we felt like it was important for the killer to be a female in order to go against popular theories such as the male gaze. We decided to cast Emma as the killer due to her fitting the role, as she does not look like a daunting character therefore there is a lot of contrast between how she acts and how she looks. As well as this Emma has strong acting capability and as the main character this was important as it made filming quicker and easier, it also made the final trailer look more professional.

young girl
The young girl seen in our trailer is the doctor as a child, we used her as she look like the killer making it clearer to the audience what role she is playing. If we were to use someone who did not look anything like the killer it would become confusing for the audience. As well as this Ava is the right age for the role, as she was able to effectively act the way we asked her too and talk clearly.

main victim
Caitlin plays the 'main' victim in our trailer she was chose as she is not the usual victim in horror movies. Any girl victim is normally a classic blonde dumb girl which we did not want to conform too. Therefore we chose someone with dark hair to contrast this idea. Furthermore there was not much acting in this role, therefore it was easy to cast the character because we just had to go of appearance rather than acting.

extra victimsAs a group we felt like it was important to still have male victims in the trailer, the two male victims where chose as we wanted to recognise that males also suffer with confidence issues. We chose masculine men to show this further and that was our main reason for casting these male victims.
Furthermore the extra female victim is seen at the start, this is the first victim the audience sees and we wanted the face to have a lasting impact. Therefore we casted Morgan as she has a memorable structured face. We also did not want to use the stereotypical blonde female character once again, therefore Morgan was perfect as she has dark hair. Additionally none of these Extras had a major acting role, so we based these casting decisions more on looks rather than their ability to act which made it a lot easier for us. |
